A special Central Bureau of Investigation court on Saturday directed Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh to be present on August 23 to hear formal framing of charges against him in connection with a 1999 case involving the rape of a female disciple.Singh was not present in the court today owing to ill health, skipping a second successive appearance. The Dera chief is the lone accused in the case of alleged sexual exploitation involving a female sect member.

A special Central Bureau of Investigation court on Friday convicted 58 accused in the fodder scam, including seven women, for fraudulently withdrawing over Rs eight crore from the Chaibasa Treasury in the early 1990s.Delivering the verdict, the court of R R Tripathy also acquitted three accused in the case.Former animal husbandry officials R N Barman, Kameshwar Prasad Singh, Audhesh Kumar Singh and N R Prasad Sinha were sentenced to three years rigorous imprisonment.

The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday said it has attached in London, Dubai and India assets worth Rs 538 crore of Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal, his family members and companies as part of a money laundering investigation linked to an alleged bank loan fraud. The attached properties include 17 residential flats, bungalows and commercial premises. Located in London, Dubai and various cities in India, these properties are in the name of various companies like Jetair Private Limited and Jet Enterprises Private Limited, Goyal, his wife Anita, and son Nivaan, the central agency said in a statement.
